Students from Washington, DC study at SFS-Qatar
Each year students from Georgetown University in Main Campus and Doha Campus enroll in study abroad programs to gain international educational experience. An important component of studying at Georgetown University, study abroad programs provide the opportunity to live and learn in a different country.
As part of this program, Lydia Rodreguiz and Louisa Aviles arrived to Doha from the Main Campus in Washington, DC on January 4, 2008. They participated in the LeaderShape Conference with their classmates from SFS-Qatar along with other students around Doha. In this conference, in an effort to address world’s problems, Lydia and Louisa defined goals at personal and community level. They are staying at the Girls Dorm in Education City and attending classes with their new friends in Doha.
Lydia and Louisa’s experience in Doha, Qatar illustrates the study abroad programs available for Georgetown University students both in Washington, DC and Doha. Office of International Programs (OIP) is the main body overseeing these programs. OIP fosters the international character of Georgetown University (GU) and creates international and intercultural opportunities for the GU community. Division of Overseas Studies within the Office is responsible for the management of study abroad programs. Currently, the Division offers 120 programs in 39 countries.
SFS-Qatar students are encouraged to apply for these programs. The deadline for application is February 8, 2008 and the main contact for related inquiries is Scott Handley at the Dean’s Office.
